The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, sent the following message to the President of Burkina Faso, Roch Marc Christian Kabore:
«I received, with deep grief, news of the vile terrorist attack committed in the capital of your Country, which caused numerous victims - including an Italian boy - and many injured. Once again a barbarian act of terrorism strikes us all, targeting the gathering places of defenceless civilians and revealing cowardice and contempt for the most basic principles of peaceful coexistence.
I am certain that this action of inhuman violence will only reinforce the cohesion of your people and the determination of the international community to vanquish the plague of terrorism, wherever it might manifest itself. With this hope in mind, allow me to express, on behalf of myself and of the Italian people, my deepest sentiments of grief and sympathy to the families of the victims, the injured and to all of the Burkinabé people».
