The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, has sent the following message to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland:
"Italy was shocked by the images of the attack suffered by the city of Manchester last night. We are especially saddened by the presence of many very young boys and girls, who became victims of this
odious and senseless criminal violence while gathered on the pleasant occasion of a concert.
In this tragic moment I wish to express the heart-felt condolences of the people of Italy. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims and to all the people injured, I send my wishes for their quick recovery.
Your Majesty, it is in this spirit that, on behalf of the Italian people and myself, I should like to express my deepest sympathy to you and to the United Kingdom."
