The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, sent the following message to the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden:
« I was shocked to learn of the vile attack that provoked a great many casualties in the city of New Orleans. The Italian people participate in the sorrow of those who lost their dear ones and wish a quick recovery to those wounded. In this moment of grief for the American people, I would like to reaffirm the Italian Republic’s resolute intention to most firmly combat all forms of terrorism on the basis of those values of civilization, democracy and respect for human lives that we have always shared with the United States. While expressing our sympathy and looking forward to greeting you in Rome, allow me to renew to you, Mr. President, the deepest felt condolences on my personal behalf and of the Italian Republic. ».
