«Education has been a formidable driver of growth and transformation in the story of humanity, significantly contributing to the affirmation of human dignity and rights.
In a context marked by profound change, education needs an overhaul if it is to continue to fulfil its duty: that of being a tool for removing the economic and social hurdles that truly limit the freedom and equality of citizens, preventing the full development of the human person and an effective participation in the country’s political, economic and social organisation.
The International Day of Education 2026, promoted by the United Nations, acknowledges and attaches great value to the role young people can play as co-creators of modern and inclusive education systems, capable of meeting their aspirations while providing them both with the tools for better grasping reality and the skills needed to act concretely and take centre stage in society.
Education is a fundamental human right and a public asset; it is a crucial lever for achieving cohesive, participatory and democratic societies. It is a force that gives us the freedom to think, act and live».
